Mons. Cirrincione explained that “human fatherhood, as a reflection of God’s fatherhood, was designed to be the pillar of the family,” and that the “disappearance of esteem for paternity has led to the collapse of this pillar and the disintegration of the family.”
In the ninth century, Pope Leo XIII consecrated the month of October to the Virgin of the Rosary – a title with which Mary called herself at Fatima – and in her encyclical Quamquam Pluries (Devotion to Saint Joseph) of 1889, the Pope asked ” that the Christian people constantly invoke, with great devotion and trust, together with the Mother of God, her chaste husband Saint Joseph. ”
Because devotion to Saint Joseph was “very important,” this Pope wrote and offered a prayer to the Holy Custodian for recitation after the Rosary during the month of October.
