Our husbands are the leaders of our families and desperately need our prayers. While God is a God who is after the hearts of our husbands, the Enemy is also after them as well.

We need to trust God with our prayers and daily surrender our marriage and our husband to the Lord. By intentionally praying over our spouse, we are investing in his role as our spiritual leader and learning to trust God.

Proverbs 31:11-12 says, “The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.”

To do our husbands good, we must ask for great things for them. We must pray strong prayers for them— powerful prayers for them. Our words aren’t meant to just float over them. Our words are meant to protect them, to lift them up, to encourage them and to help them become the men God needs them to be.

We have no other more intimate relationship on this earth than the one we have with our husbands. Praying intentionally for our husbands allows us to reflect that intimacy. After all, who better can know when something is on your husband’s mind? We can go before the Lord and ask to protect our husband from the Enemy who tries to prey on those weaknesses.

Finally, prayer tells your husband that he is important. We are all busy wives and moms and sisters and daughters, but praying strong prayers for our husbands show that we value them.

Here are 10 strong prayers to pray for your husband.

1. A Strong Marriage

Ask God to help strengthen and grow your marriage so that you may “live in peace with each other” (1 Thessalonians 5:13). Pray that your husband would know the love that Jesus showed in loving his church, and in turn, pray that you are able to serve, love and respect him. A marriage that mirrors God’s love is stronger than any other marriage because selfless love comes only from God’s goodness. Ask that your marriage be built on a foundation that seeks God, rather than the things of this world. Pray that through it all, God will be glorified in your marriage.

Pray that his walk is fruitful and that he learns to guard his heart from the temptations of the world and that he has the courage to always seek the Lord even through the tough times. “Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments!” (Psalm 112:

3. A Strong Satisfaction in God

Likewise, pray that your husband finds satisfaction in God alone instead of in the words of men. Ask God to daily remind his mind and heart that God is always his ultimate father and protector. God will never pass him over when a reward is due. God is faithful to those who love him. Pray that he will be a man of wisdom and will understand that God’s word is powerful. Ask God to speak clearly to your husband and for your husband to find peace in God’s words in all times. “The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes before honor” (Proverbs 15:33).

4. A Strong and Blessed Life

Ask God to bless your husband’s work and home life. Ask God to allow your husband to thrive at work as he does his job and home as he leads your household. Pray that his career his successful and his leadership and other strong characteristics shine in the workplace. Ask God to allow others to see God’s grace through your husband’s dedication. Also, pray that at home, your husband leads your family well and builds your family. “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:58).

To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen” (2 Peter 3:18).

6. A Strong Man of Character

Ask God to keep him from falling into traps of temptation, but instead to build his spirit into a man that reflects Christ, a man that others want to model. Pray that he is humble and serves others unselfishly and speaks kindly of others. Pray that others will always see God reflected in his character. “Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil” (1 Timothy 3:7).
